From Detection to Disruption: Leveraging NLP Insights to Proactively Combat Cybercrime in Bangladesh

In an era marked by the escalating prevalence and sophistication of cyber threats, the imperative for robust cybersecurity measures has reached a critical juncture, especially for nations in developmental stages such as Bangladesh. This study delves into the utilization of Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to elevate the proactive stance against cybercrime in Bangladesh, emphasizing the integration of NLP insights across the entire cybersecurity lifecycle, encompassing detection through to disruption. Commencing with an in-depth analysis of the current cyber threat landscape in Bangladesh, including the identification of prevalent attack vectors and an assessment of the existing cybersecurity infrastructure, the research employs NLP to enhance early threat detection. The aim is to extract meaningful patterns and anomalies from extensive textual data derived from sources such as social media, forums, and other online platforms. Furthermore, the investigation explores the incorporation of NLP-powered tools into incident response mechanisms, facilitating swift and informed decision-making during cyber incidents. Through the development of a proactive approach leveraging NLP insights, the objective is to disrupt cybercriminal activities before they escalate, thereby minimizing potential damage and bolstering the overall resilience of the cybersecurity ecosystem. The study encompasses the creation of a prototype system showcasing the practical implementation of NLP in real-time cyber threat analysis. Effective evaluation of the system will be undertaken through simulated cyber-attack scenarios, gauging its ability to detect and proactively respond to evolving threats. Ultimately, this research aspires to furnish valuable insights and pragmatic strategies for cybersecurity professionals, policymakers, and law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh to fortify their defense mechanisms against cyber threats. By harnessing the capabilities of NLP, the overarching goal is to empower the nation to transcend mere detection and actively thwart cybercriminal activities, cultivating a safer and more secure digital environment.
