Artificial Intelligence Applications in Tourism and Hospitality Education: A Systematic Literature Review

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology within tourism and hospitality industry enhanced student engagement, created personalized learning experiences, improved curriculum delivery and prepared graduates for technology-driven workplaces. This systematic literature review aims to comprehensively examine and synthesise the existing scholarly literature on the application of AI in tourism and hospitality education. Following internationally recognised systematic review guidelines, the study will identify publication trends, major AI technologies adopted, educational applications, research methodologies, key outcomes, benefits, challenges, ethical concerns, and future research directions. The review will also explore how AI contributes to teaching effectiveness, student learning outcomes, curriculum innovation, and institutional readiness within tourism and hospitality education. By consolidating current evidence, the study seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the evolving role of AI in tourism and hospitality education. The findings will assist educators, curriculum developers, higher education institutions, policymakers, and researchers in making informed decisions regarding the effective integration of AI into tourism and hospitality programmes.
