Investigating the Determinants Influencing the Menstrual Hygiene Management Practices among Underprivileged Female Workers in the Ready-Made Garment Industry in Bangladesh
The Ready-Made Garments (RMG) Industry is the most significant industry in Bangladesh, contributing to the country's socio-economic development. A large proportion of the workers in this industry comprises the female workforce, and their health and hygiene issues are not always properly addressed. Unawareness and misrepresentation of menstruation hygiene practices are often associated with several taboos or stigmas observed in the different societies in Bangladesh. Such practices often lead to various reproductive health issues, which cause females to face childbearing complications in the future. This study will further investigate the factors influencing menstrual hygiene management practices among underprivileged female workers, identify different socio-economic, cultural, and workplace factors, and explore the roles of employers, NGOs, and public health policies in supporting menstrual hygiene management within the RMG sector.
